Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened​
  • 1 cup granulated sugar​
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar​
  • 2 large eggs​
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract​
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour​
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda​
  • ½ teaspoon salt​
  • 3 cups rolled oats​
  • Optional add-ins: 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.​
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.​
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.​
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.​
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.​
  • Stir in rolled oats and any optional add-ins like raisins or chocolate chips.​
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.​
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until edges are golden brown.​
  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them and let them finish cooking on the baking sheet.​
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.​
  • Experiment with add-ins like nuts or dried cranberries for variety.
